Prestigious Grammy Awards 2024!

Happy and honoured to bring 2 Grammys home to India for our Album “As we speak” with my inspiration the maestros Ustad Zakir Hussain, Bela Fleck and Edgar Meyer. A surreal and overwhelming feeling.

More than the joy I felt for myself, the pride of winning it as an Indian Musician ranks higher. To win 2 Grammys in my first ever nomination makes it even sweeter.

We have won the Grammy for the below two categories:

  • Best Contemporary Instrumental Album
  • Best Global Music Performance for “Pashto”

Thank you to all for your love and blessings ❤️🙏

Biography

Continuing the Chaurasia Tradition

A famous name attached to this musician; young Rakesh is a child prodigy and the nephew of flute maestro Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia. The most accomplished of disciples of his uncle, he shows all the promise to carry the Chaurasia legacy to new heights.

When someone like Rakesh initiates an alap [a long, slow exposition of the raga, an unmetered melodic exploration that opens many Indian classical performances], it may be that something may trigger a new possibility, a sequence of notes, a different direction from the dressing room. And I can then judge and anticipate, when I come into the scheme of things, where I might be in this conversation.
